Four Candles

(Click on the pictures to enlarge)

Bridger turned four years old on the 5th of November and we celebrated over about two weeks as Grandma was visiting, then aunt Missy, then it was his actual birthday and then the next weekend he had a party with his friends.

On the day of his birthday, we made monkey bread, opened presents, went to the pool as a family and enjoyed a really fun day.

This year I was planning on having it all low-key--maybe having a couple of his friends over for cake and a movie or something. But a friend of mine wanted to have a joint party at a gymnastics gym in town so we went a little bigger than I was originally thinking (seemed like at least 100 preschoolers).
The kids had a great time, but boy was I wiped by the end of the afternoon. I had spent the morning frosting his requested dragon cake (I bit off a bit more than I could chew on that one too). If it seems a little "scary," it's supposed to be. Bridger's very into scary things right now. I'm still processing the fact that I have a four-year-old, but honestly most of the time he seems about ten.

The video is of Bridger "flying" as they hooked up the birthday boys to the acrobatic apparatus ropes. The best part of this wasn't captured on film because my card was full of other random video (typical) but after this they flew his back and forth like Peter Pan--it made me want to be a bird too!

WHAT a fantastic cake! So much work goes into these celebrations but just one glance at these pix (and that smile!) proves every minute was worth it.

P.S.- Drew's obsessed with spookiness now too. They should tell each other long-distance scary bedtime stories.
