We decided not to put Bridger in a formal preschool this year for several reasons. I'm finally at home full-time, and he still has at least two school years until kindergarten--plus, we had no idea where to send him having just moved here. The biggest reason, however, is that we are still planning on homeschooling, though much will depend on the church-plant and how we feel like we are in the community at the time and lots and lots of prayer.
So, I've been doing some experimenting with a few non-invasive lessons here and there and in the last few months he seems to have started to enjoy learning (as opposed to previously when the more excited I was for him to learn something, the more squirrely he'd become). He was doing so well with his sounds that I decided to start "reading" some BOB books. He's really cute because he knows all the sounds, but doesn't quite understand the putting them together for words yet, so I think we're going to phase out BOB for the time being.
He is also suddenly interested in writing and coloring. I used to see all these nice children coloring and drawing, and then there was my son who would take all the caps off the markers and color on himself, if he didn't get too bored with it before he thought of that. Anyway, he just was able to write his name which made me feel like he's all grown up.

Love the "squirrely" comment! Made me laugh. Bridger knows his letters and sounds? He can write his name? You'd never know he and Noah are in the same "class". I'm still trying to get the boy to distiguish between colors, and that his name starts with an "N". You must have some kind of genius!
That's so great, Rachel. Good for you. A lot of choices out there re: schooling. From what you say here, I bet Bridger will really like school no matter the venue. Seriously, does he play piano, too? I like those stickers, by the way.
ooops, there's my other blog that i never write on but i quote you on the first post! i like blogger. much love, allie
ps do you guys need a counselor on staff yet? ;)
Holy cow- he is all grown up! And it's not like his name is short or easy to spell either. Tell Bridger we are all proud of him!!
Ok, Rachel. You're officially hired as my kids' tutor from now on.
