The evolution of the guest room

We finally whipped the baby's room into shape last night. I was hoping that she was waiting for it to be all ready to pop on out, but no such luck. The upstairs guest room was always going to be the nursery, but it became the repository for random junk from the basement when it flooded last fall (see picture). Unfortunately, I don't have any nice picture of how it used to look--probably because I wasn't expecting the basement flood!

I kept procrastinating getting it done, thinking it might be a good job for mom to help me with when she got here, but I got into nesting a few weeks ago. I enlisted some friends to help me clear, tape and paint. I'm so excited for about how it turned out.

I picked a bright green for the walls and did some built-in accents in baby pink. As you can tell by the pictures, there's still nowhere for the baby to sleep (Ryan has to put the cradle together--Asher's keeping the crib for another few months). You can see the crib bedding in one of the pictures--a simple pink and green stripe. There's nothing for the walls, we need curtains and a rug, but it's all cleared, cleaned and waiting.

Can't wait to see the new resident! I love that the quilt rack found a home in there...at least until she's mobile.
